What's on the needles

I haven't been doing much seeing lately. My BIL who is developmentally delayed, and had dementia was brought home from the nursing home. We ended up taking him to the hospital and is now re- admitted to a nursing home again. I hope he gets good care there. But he can be difficult to say the least. I did a lot of knitting so all I have to show is a 2/3 finished shawl/sweater

I started it last April, tore it out this spring and restarted it again in April of this yr. I'm not a dedicated knitter, and I'm slow at it. W/O anything else to do at the hospital knitting and stupid cable shows was all there was to keep me occupied.here's a link to what it is supposed to look like. I should have 1 more skein of yarn too. Otherwise I'll have to rip it out!

So here's what's on my needles.... Again, and still!

We will be needing to sell BIL house soon, so the owrk of emptying out a lifetime of stuff starts today. There is an old Montgomery Ward featherweight like sewing machine upstairs it has shuttles! I will be bringing that home. and will post more on that later. Not sure what else... there is too much stuff in our house too.

  1. Good luck with the house clean out. I hope to read more about that old sewing machine.

    1. Thank you the machine is so dusty, I'm just trying to get her cabinet cleaned out. Found a lot of old buttons, and the spindles for the machine! I was worried about that.

  2. It sounds like your life has been hijacked for now! That happens sometimes and it is so difficult to get through. Knitting certainly helped get me through my daughter's health issues last month. Hoping everything goes well and quickly for you all. Can't wait to see the new machine - it sounds like a treasure!

    1. hijacked is agreat way to discribe it. Time will tell if it is a treasure, or a mess. Tight now that MW is a dusty mess. I'm not sure if it will turn on.

  3. We went through the same thing with my BIL a couple of years ago, although we never had him staying with us. He passed away a little more than a year ago. It is so hard sorting through someone else's things. And it sure does cut into all the time for doing fun stuff.

  4. Sorry to hear about your BIL, I agree nursing homes can be scary. Good luck on getting good care. Could he go to an Assisted Living home? My mother has dementia and does great in one. It is also cheaper then any nursing home we found.

I can't wait to see your MW feather weight. I worked at MW for many years, along time ago.
